If you need to send me something private, you may use Special:EmailUser/Xaosflux. Problema with 2FA

Hi Xaosflux!
I'm m:User:!Silent. I received your email today to activate 2FA on my account, but after activating it I can no longer log into it. I chose the WebAuthn option with the option to leave the password stored on my smartphone, but every time I try to log Windows asks me to put in a USB device; I put my smartphone in and it didn't work. Would there be a way to disable 2FA so I can choose another option? !SilentTest (talk) 01:05, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

@!SilentTest WebAuthn is the much less recommended option. Use the same device to log on, and do it on the same project that you enrolled on (e.g. if you set it up at pt.wiki, you have to log on there.). To unenroll and reset use Special:Manage_Two-factor_authentication on that project. I suggest you use TOTP as it is more supported. (This is warned about in Help:Two-factor_authentication#Web_Authentication_Method) — xaosflux ^Talk 02:47, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

If you are still unable to recover, you will need to contact ca@wikimedia.org for additional help. This should be done from the email address you use for password recovery.
